Installing RankEngine on your Shopify store

RankEngine SEO AEO installs in under a minute via the standard Shopify OAuth flow.

What you'll need

  • An active Shopify store (any plan).
  • Your store admin credentials (or "Apps" permission delegated to you).

Steps

  1. Visit the RankEngine listing on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Add app.
  3. Approve the requested permissions:
    • Read/write products, content, themes
    • Read/write metaobjects
    • Read analytics, files, locales
  4. You land back inside your Shopify admin with the app embedded. Onboarding starts automatically.

What happens next

The first scan kicks off automatically — RankEngine pulls your products, pages, collections, and articles in the background. You'll see your SEO score within 30 seconds.

If the scan stalls or you see "still loading" after 2 minutes, refresh the page. The scan resumes from where it left off — no work is lost.

Why those permissions?

We explain each scope in the Privacy Policy. TL;DR: we read catalog data only — never customer PII, never orders, never carts.

Troubleshooting

  • Stuck on the OAuth grant page? Check that your browser allows third-party cookies for admin.shopify.com. Phase 190 of RankEngine made this work even when 3rd-party cookies are blocked, but Shopify's grant page itself can fail in incognito.
  • App shows blank after install? Hard-refresh once (Cmd+Shift+R / Ctrl+Shift+R). Phase 193's cache softening fixed the long-tail blank-on-load case, but the very first install can still benefit from a refresh.
  • Want to start over? Apps → RankEngine SEO AEO → Uninstall, then re-install from the App Store. Your wallet balance and subscription history persist; the scan re-runs from scratch.
