AI Wallet usage

The AI Wallet is RankEngine's usage-control system for AI-assisted work. It keeps AI actions explicit, auditable, and easy to pause.

What the wallet controls

How the wallet works

  1. Approve usage — Billing shows the available wallet controls for your plan.
  2. Preview before bulk actions — bulk AI jobs show the expected usage before they begin.
  3. Reserve per task — every AI call reserves usage before it runs.
  4. Refund on failure — if an AI call fails and falls back to a non-AI path, the reservation is rolled back automatically.
  5. Review history — successful, failed, and refunded actions are visible in the wallet history.

Auto-top-up

Billing → AI Wallet → Auto top-up. Configure a threshold and refill amount if your plan supports automated wallet replenishment.

When the threshold is crossed, RankEngine prepares the next approval step in Shopify. Shopify requires merchant approval for wallet-related charges, so RankEngine never completes that approval invisibly. See Setting up auto-top-up for the full flow and cooldown semantics.

What if I run out mid-task?

  • Single-task AI calls (alt text, meta generation): you see a 402 error with "Insufficient AI wallet balance" and a Top Up CTA. Nothing happens until you top up.
  • Bulk operations (Push to Score 100, Autopilot run): the cost preview gates the start. If wallet is low, the run never begins — we surface the gap upfront.

Refunds

Failed AI calls, timeouts, and content-filter rejections are auto-refunded within 60 seconds. You see the refund in Transactions tab as type=refund.

For wallet credit purchased but never used, email RankEngine support. We review unused-balance refunds through the Shopify billing flow.
